Hello, Future Tutors!
Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts trains volunteers to provide free, individualized, and confidential tutoring to adults in the areas of literacy (basic reading skills for native and proficient/fluent English speakers) and ESOL (English for speakers of other languages). Tutoring occurs in-person or, with some of our English Learners, online. We have a long list of newcomers and established residents waiting to be tutored, so every tutor counts!
You do not have to have any experience teaching or tutoring to be a successful tutor. We run free 18-hour Basic Literacy and ESOL trainings throughout the year. Our next ESOL training begins May 16th; we will not run another until next fall. Our Basic Literacy training will not run again until the fall. To find out more about these trainings and other opportunities throughout the year, sign up for an upcoming volunteer information session here: https://forms.gle/T98rZuWKJKzyNGpRA.
You may also text, email, or call me to learn general information about our program or register for an information session.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Eleanor

About Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts
Location:

Mission Statement
Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts (LVM) believes in the power of literacy to transform lives and communities. Since 1972, LVM has trained volunteer tutors to provide free, confidential and individualized tutoring to adults in basic reading and writing, and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
Description
LVM volunteers help adults acquire the literacy and English language skills that empower them to realize their goals. By improving their basic skills through tutoring, adults are better able to meet life's challenges, be self-sufficient, provide for their families, help their children with homework, read a daily newspaper, enjoy more independence and gain self-confidence.
