Position: Friendly Caller

Reports to: Home Care Coordinator

Position Summary: Provides social connection to our homebound residents through weekly scheduled phone calls.

Essential Job Functions:

• Call once a week to assigned resident(s) to provide a friendly call.
• Ensure the call session is on time and for the duration of time agreed upon.
• Report to Home Care Coordinator if there are any conditions or personal concerns of the client that may need further support.
• Report your volunteer hours with the Home Care Coordinator.

Qualifications:

• Pleasant personality and excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent listening skills.
• Sensitive to the cognitive or physical impairments of others.
• Must uphold client confidentiality.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Must be able to conduct phone calls.

Time Commitment:

• 2-4 hours per week
• Call frequency and length to be determined by volunteer and resident during initial phone call.

Training:

• Attend orientation with Volunteer and Program Coordinator
• Complete Adult Protective Services Training
• Receive Volunteer Handbook
• Train with an existing volunteer or staff member.
• Communication staters or a "hobby interest form" will be provided for volunteers to use as a guide during a call.
