Vet Services

Seattle Humane's Schuler Family Medical Center is a high-volume teaching hospital that provides exams and surgeries for shelter pets, as well as affordable spay & neuter surgery, wellness care, vaccinations and microchips for pets of low-income guardians. Volunteers are essential in helping us keep supplies and the clinic in general clean, organized, and ready for action.

Volunteer Clinic Care Assistants support by maintaining a well-run clinic so veterinary staff can focus on providing high-quality medical care. This role includes:

  • Cleaning recovery rooms and resetting the clinic
  • Stocking and organizing supplies
  • Other ad hoc support tasks
This is a very physical position that requires volunteers to be on their feet for most of the shift, as well as bending, crouching, and some lifting (up to 25lbs).

Prior veterinary experience is NOT needed. This is a great entry-level role for anyone who'd like to learn more about the inner-workings of a vet clinic, while supporting pets in the shelter and our community!

Mission Statement

Seattle Humane promotes the human-animal bond by saving and serving pets in need, regardless of age, ability, circumstance or geography.

Description

Founded in 1897, Seattle Humane proudly promotes the human-animal bond by saving and serving pets in need. We are one of the region’s leaders in animal adoption, education and welfare.

Seattle Humane is more than a shelter - we are a community resource center, providing adoption services, a pet food bank and support for pet owners, low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and wellness exams, humane education for all ages and more. Our work is made possible by the support of a generous community, and through our outreach, advocacy and services we strive to ensure that animal companionship is accessible to all.

We believe everyone deserves a chance to experience the love of a pet and the lifelong benefits of the human-animal bond. With this lens, we will continue to expand our programs and services to impact as many lives as possible.
