Meal Prep Volunteer for Denver Ronald McDonald House

Help prepare meals for the families at the Denver Ronald McDonald House while their children receive treatment at a local medical facility. We are seeking individuals to assist our Culinary Manager with meal prep from 12:00-3:30pm as needed. Days vary. Interested volunteers will be added to an on-call list to be contacted within two weeks of needing meal help.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with basic meal preparation, following provided prep lists with attention to detail,
- Utilize basic knife skills and manual coordination under the guidance of experienced staff.
- Learn and apply fundamental cooking and preparation safety practices under supervision.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to food safety guidelines and best practices.
- Assist with simple cooking tasks such as searing meats, preparing sauces, and par cooking foods.
- Gain familiarity with food measurements and basic math skills as needed.
- Support proper food storage procedures and labeling practices.
Qualifications:
- Enthusiasm to learn and contribute to a supportive kitchen environment.
- Willingness to receive coaching and guidance from experienced kitchen staff.
- Basic understanding of kitchen safety and hygiene preferred but not required.
- Availability to commit to scheduled volunteer shifts.

RMHC and its global network of local Chapters also have hundreds of millions of dollars in grants and program services to children's programs around the world.
Please note: We have two locations under RMHC-Denver, the Denver House and the Aurora House. Both houses have the same volunteer opportunities! RMHC-Denver does not accept volunteers looking to fulfill court ordered community service requirements and will not validate court sanctioned service hours.
