Every year, armed conflict, migration, disasters, and other humanitarian emergencies split up countless families. The anguish of losing contact with loved ones, uncertain of their whereabouts or safety, can be profoundly distressing. As a Restoring Family Links volunteer, you can help investigate, search for, and locate these missing family members. Volunteers play a crucial role in delivering Red Cross messages, responding to tracing inquiries, offering information and referrals, and conducting community outreach efforts to provide assistance.

Location: 100% virtual.

Time Commitment: Flexible. At least 5+ hours per month outreach is encouraged with 1-year commitment.

Qualifications:

  • Desire to support the American Red Cross humanitarian mission through reconnecting separated families.
  • Ability to work independently with diverse populations, in a culturally competent manner and to embody the Red Cross fundamental principles including impartiality and neutrality.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Completion of Restoring Family Links training requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and database, coupled with excellent research skills, internet navigation, and use of social media tools.
