This opportunity is only for volunteers residing in Tampa Bay and Suncoast area of Florida

NicerFL Welcome Centers, located in Pinellas Park, Tampa, and Sarasota, provide comprehensive integration support for refugees through a network of welcoming centers. These centers serve as safe, inclusive spaces where refugees can access services, participate in programs, and connect with others. They offer a wide range of refugee and new immigrant support services, including personalized resource mentoring, English language life skills and cultural integration classes at 4 language levels, family literacy projects, career coaching, referral services, well-being projects, and newcomer youth academic tutoring. Online language classes, tutoring and mentoring are also provided.

As a NicerFL Board Member, you will contribute to the success of our organization by providing strategic guidance, leveraging your expertise, and actively participating in board meetings and decision-making processes. Your responsibilities may include:

1. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with other board members to develop and refine the strategic direction of NicerFL Welcome Centers, ensuring alignment with our mission and goals.
2. Governance and Oversight: Actively participate in board meetings, review financial reports, and provide oversight to ensure sound financial management and compliance with relevant regulations.
3. Fundraising and Resource Development: Support fundraising efforts by leveraging your network and connections to identify potential donors, sponsors, and funding opportunities.
4. Partnerships and Collaboration: Cultivate and maintain partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community groups to enhance the effectiveness and reach of our programs.
5. Advocacy and Public Relations: Serve as a representative and advocate for NicerFL Welcome Centers, raising awareness about the experiences and contributions of refugees and immigrants, and promoting a positive public perception.
6. Program Evaluation and Adaptation: Review and assess the impact and effectiveness of our programs, providing input and recommendations for continuous improvement and adaptation to evolving needs and challenges.

To be considered for the NicerFL Board Member position, we are looking for individuals with the following qualifications:

1. Passion for Refugee and Immigrant Support: Demonstrated commitment to supporting the successful integration of refugees and immigrants into their host communities.
2. Strategic Thinking: Ability to think critically, analyze complex issues, and contribute to the development of strategic plans and initiatives.
3. Leadership and Collaboration: Strong leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and build effective partnerships.
4. Fundraising and Networking: Experience in fundraising, donor cultivation, and networking to support the financial sustainability of the organization.
5. Knowledge of Refugee and Immigrant Issues: Familiarity with the challenges faced by refugees and immigrants, as well as the services and resources available to support their integration.
6. Board Experience: Previous experience serving on a board of directors or similar governance roles is preferred but not required.
