ORGANIZATION: Houston Food Bank

The Volunteer Services Dedicated Volunteer Department is looking for a volunteer who can support our programs as an executive assistant to the Volunteer Liaison. We currently oversee our Student Heroes and Apple Corps Leader Programs and look to launch our Young Professionals Development Program in the Fall of 2024.

The Apple Corps Leader program is designed to support the growth and development of the Houston Food Bank. These dedicated volunteers are provided with unique volunteer opportunities that match their skill sets and experience to provide support to each department. Each Apple Corps leader is attached to a specific role and is added as a valued member of our teams. The Student Heroes Program is a student-led leadership and career development program designed to support initiatives and projects of the food bank while creating the non-profit leaders of tomorrow. Students in this program will be provided opportunities to develop professional, interpersonal, and project management skills. This program is open to all high school students in our service area and is offered all year round.

In your role as an Executive Assistant to the Volunteer Liaison, you would:

  • Assist the VL in revamping the ACL Program by providing detailed feedback and researching other volunteer programs
  • Take detailed meeting minutes for meetings with HFB employees, volunteers, and partners
  • Project management as we develop new programs and recruit volunteers
  • Send content or information to dedicated volunteer leaders for competition
  • Other clerical tasks as assigned such as research or presentation development

This position can be done hybrid or entirely virtually. We can schedule meetings and events around your schedule, or I can record the meetings, and turn in meeting minutes within 48 hours.
