If you’re ready to bring Girl Scouts together and help them grow their confidence, find their voices, and make new friends, you’re ready to be a troop leader. As a troop leader, you’ll guide a group of Girl Scouts, called a troop, to become stronger, kinder, and braver than they ever thought possible. No previous Girl Scout experience is required-we’ll provide the training, curriculum, and resources!

We have a need for troop leaders of all kinds, and especially adults who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Our Mentored Troops center the unique experiences of BIPOC youth and encourage a sense of belonging and sisterhood in a culturally relevant environment. By seeing, interacting with, and learning from leaders of color, they too can see themselves as a leader. Mentored Troop leaders receive one year of 1:1 mentoring from a Girl Scouts River Valleys staff.

As a troop leader, you will...

  • Lead 1-2 troop meetings per month, on a schedule that works for you
  • Facilitate girl-led activities, troop field trips, and community service
  • Have access to meeting plans, trainings, and a network of staff and volunteers to support you
  • Develop skills like project management, group facilitation, and communication
  • Build a welcoming and supportive community for your Girl Scouts, their families, and yourself!
