Description
Direct Resident Responsibilities :
- Answer phone calls in a professional manor, document messages and direct calls to the appropriate staff.
- Greet guests and connect them with the appropriate staff.
- Be able to describe Cabrini Partnership programs, policies and procedures to callers requesting information.
- Research and locate free and/or affordable recreational opportunities for residents. Coordinate resident participation in group activities.
- Assist callers in locating other community resources when Cabrini Partnership programs do not meet their needs.
- Assist residents in contacting and communicating with out side agencies and services, i.e., pharmacies, General Assistance, housing sources etc.
- Assist in supervising any special resident events.
- Witness and document resident medication use. (this may not be doable for a volunteer)
- Check house jobs and find resident volunteers to cover missed house jobs.
- Monitor bus card/tokens and document their use.
- Receive and sort mail. Forward mail to former residents.
- Assist residents in securing cleaning, personal and food items.
- Cleaning and vacuuming of office.
- Copy and collate and fax documents.
- At resident request for access to refrigerator or freezer escort resident, unlock and relock equipment. Inform the cook through a note in her mailbox of what was removed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills
This position requires an understanding of or empathy for individuals with chemical and mental health disabilities. It requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Some computer skills required. Must enjoy people, have flexibility to deal with interruptions. Have knowledge of or be willing to learn community recourses. Must have excellent personal boundaries to ensure safe and ethical resident/staff behaviors. Must be able to work as part of a team.
