ORGANIZATION: Delray Beach Public Library Association, Inc.

As a Volunteer Coordinator for adult volunteers at the Library, you will be assisting the Educational Programs and Volunteer Manager in the recruiting, training, and managing volunteers. Duties include assisting with: coordinating schedules, organizing orientations, and ensuring volunteers are aligned with the library's goals. Excellent communication and organizational skills are crucial for successful collaboration with volunteers and library staff.

As a Volunteer Coordinator for adult volunteers at the Library, your responsibilities include:

  1. Recruitment: Assist the Adult Program and Volunteer Manager in seeking adult volunteers to support various library programs and activities.
  2. Training: Assist with the development of orientation and training sessions.
  3. Scheduling: Assist with the coordination of volunteerschedules to ensure adequate coverage for different tasks and events and arrange backup coverage when needed.
  4. Task Assignment: Match volunteers with appropriate tasks based on their skills, interests, and availability.
  5. Communication: Liaise with volunteers and library staff, facilitating a positive and collaborative environment.
  6. Record Keeping: Assist with the record keeping of volunteerhours, tasks performed, and contact information.
  7. Recognition: Assist with the development of volunteer recognition programs and appreciation events.
  8. Community Outreach: Engage with the community to promote volunteeropportunities and enhance the library's presence.

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Understanding of library operations and services.
  • Previous experience in volunteercoordination is a plus.

Description

The Ladies Improvement Association founded the Delray Beach Public Library in 1913. In 1938 the Delray Beach Public Library Association became a not-for-profit corporation to provide a public library in Delray Beach. Since 1950, our patrons have received library service through a successful public/private partnership between the City of Delray Beach and the Library Association. The City of Delray Beach has provided a large percentage of the annual operating budget and the Library Association has raised capital funds.

Delray Beach Public Library exists to enrich the lives of the individuals of Delray Beach’s diverse communities by creating and sustaining superior public library services through responsive staff, dynamic collections, appropriate technology and access to global information.
