Come Cook With Friends!

Do you and your friends love to cook? Consider recruiting a small group of friends to come cook and serve meals at Nativity House Shelter. Scheduling is flexible and we're happy to work with groups to meet volunteers where they are. We realize that volunteers have busy lives and we'll work with you to design a plan that fits busy schedules.

Nativity House is an overnight shelter & day center for men and women actively experiencing homelessness in Tacoma. The Nativity House Kitchen serves approx. 120-200 meals per meal time. We need volunteers who know how cook for a crowd or who can scale up recipes. Groups often do meals like pancakes, casseroles, spaghetti & meatballs, and Sloppy Joes.

Groups are encouraged to use ingredients available in the kitchen to build a menu and/or donate heir own ingredients based on what they want to cook.

If groups are more comfortable serving instead of cooking- we can work with that too.

The Nativity House Kitchen provides breakfast, lunch and dinner, 7 days a week, 365 days per year so there is alwaysan opportunity to serve.

How to Get Started:

Interested group leaders should email meganed@ccsww.org to request a volunteer registration form (sent via PDF or mailed with a self-addressed/stamped envelope) or they can register online:

Mission Statement

At Catholic Community Services we believe every child should grow up in a safe, loving and nurturing environment. The elderly should be able to live with security and dignity. A healthy family life should be affirmed and supported in our communities. Compassion, love and respect for all people, especially the poor and most vulnerable. In joining with others to change systems that oppress, discriminate or otherwise cause human suffering. Employees and volunteers should work in an environment that fosters respect, teamwork and excellence. Description

Volunteer Services provides low-income adults (anyone 18 years old or older) who have temporary or permanent functional disabilities, including those associated with aging. The people we serve can not afford to purchase the kinds of service we provide, do not qualify for assistance from other sources and do not have family or friends available to help them. Service is provided on an as-volunteers-are-available basis. There are never any fees for the services provided.
