LLITA currently has just established open- air interior patio container garden for Pleasant HIll Post Accute Care
Activity Director Sen Magne will meet with you to provide an orientation and discuss current volunteer steps to becoming a regular friendlyvisitor.
LITA is seeking local garden volunteers for a weekly or at the least bi-monthly garden visits. Bring your green thumb and let’s have some fun. LITA Director Victoria Ryan is manager and overall garden planner, but we hope to find enthusiastic sociable regular volunteers who love to garden and make new friends at weekly patio garden weekly visits throughout the growing season. LITA gardens need help as well in Walnut Creek , Cocord, Pittsburg and Martinez in case those are more convenient locations for you
LLITA currently has well established open- air interior patio container gardens thriving at Legacy in Martinez, Bayberry in Concored and Pittsburg Skilled Nursing.
Altho Pleasant HILl Post Acute Care does not, others like Tampico health care in Walnut Creek facility do requre a volunteer to show TB test current wihin 90 days.

"Love Is The Answer" LITA of Contra Costa (since 1980) involves community members of all ages, educating and supporting youth, students families and aspiring artsts to be Volunteers to fulfill our Mission to imporve qualiaty of life for senior & disabled persons living full time in nursing care as well as memory care and assisted living facilities in Contra Costa County.
Description
LITA of CC serves skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, primarily in Contra Costa County. LITA is non-sectarian. There is no charge for LITA volunteer services.
MUSIC AWAKENINGS: LITA has long supported the miracle of Music to enhance healing & joy. Volunteers program tablets and phones especially for an individual patient (who may have speech, sight or social disabilities) with access to of music and movies from their prime of life stimulate golden memories, reducing stress, insomnia , agitation depression and alleviating sundowning. Spontaneously singing along with beloved lyrics, patients have created new pathways torestore speech.
LITA of Contra Costa encourages Intergeneration Appreciation, with events and holiday or project visits for groups from preschool through High School and College. Family visits are also encouraged and supported within this Love Is The Answer volunteer program.
Arts Volunteers at all ages & levels of perfecting audio/visual, music, dance, acting, poetry and other performing & fine arts, share these gifts with seniors in continuing care. Our most popular LITA program, suspended during covid and still not back was Pet Visitors bringing gentle dogs, cats, turtles birds. - Must be at least 16
- Orientation or Training
- Once started ( especially after seeds are planted & again when weather turns warm) the garden needs tending once a week for about an hour either with a set time of either 11 am or 2 pm. April to early November is the length of service.
- This project is not room to room visits inside the care facility. Sign in at reception may a times require masking to get to the open air garden. LITA staff or a care facility Activity Staff member will always be present for the garden hour.
