Join the Delray Beach Public Library as a Technical Services Volunteer, specializing in Children's Collection Management. This role is essential in ensuring the organization and accessibility of the library's children's materials, contributing to an enriching experience for young readers.

Responsibilities:

1. Cataloging and Classification:

- Assist in managing/labeling collection of children's books and materials using library cataloging systems.

- Ensure accurate classification and placement of items within the library's organizational structure.

2. Shelving and Organization:

- Help maintain a neat and organized children's collection by shelving items accurately.

- Perform routine shelf checks to ensure items are in their designated locations.

3. Collection Management:

- Collaborate with library staff to maintain the children’s collection current.

- Assist in conducting regular inventory checks of children's collection items.

4. Data Entry and Maintenance:

- Enter and update data related to children's materials in the library database.

- Verify and correct information to ensure accuracy.

5. Background Check:

- Successfully complete a background check as part of the volunteer application process.

Description

The Ladies Improvement Association founded the Delray Beach Public Library in 1913. In 1938 the Delray Beach Public Library Association became a not-for-profit corporation to provide a public library in Delray Beach. Since 1950, our patrons have received library service through a successful public/private partnership between the City of Delray Beach and the Library Association. The City of Delray Beach has provided a large percentage of the annual operating budget and the Library Association has raised capital funds.

Delray Beach Public Library exists to enrich the lives of the individuals of Delray Beach’s diverse communities by creating and sustaining superior public library services through responsive staff, dynamic collections, appropriate technology and access to global information.
