Pets are members of the family, but there are certain times and circumstances that prohibits us humans from having our own. The benefits others receive from animals is undeniable, whether it’s from a playful puppy, a loveable llama or something in between.
Aegis Hospice believes in creating special moments every day and the first time you see a patient light up at the sight of your animal you will know you made the right choice to join our growing team. If you have an animal who is gentle, loves others and does well with new experiences, we would be pleased to meet them! Pet therapy and animal assisted volunteers visit patients in all settings, from private homes to long-term care facilities.
If you are an animal lover who is at least 18 years old with an interest in sharing your beloved animal while dedicating time to hospice patients, please contact us! Animals and handlers must be certified in pet therapy; animals must have basic obedience and veterinary screening completed. Training to humans will be provided, along with ten hours of education.
