2/7/24 Update: We have almost all the volunteers we need! There are a few spots left, after that we will start a waitlist.
We are excited to announce that Madison Children’s Museum (MCM) will be co-hosting the annual international conference of the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM), InterActivity 2024, May 15-17.
The theme of the conference is "Flourish!" Children’s museums exist to provide the right environment, nurturing atmosphere, and care for children to thrive and to flourish. This year, sessions include a range of topics from fundraising, exhibit design, visitor engagement, volunteer programs, temporary exhibits, and working locally. All sessions are listed in the Preliminary Program.
We are looking for volunteers to help us welcome over 800 participants from all over the world (last year's conference in New Orleans had over 1,000 participants). There will be volunteer opportunities for tote bag stuffing, staffing the registration table, and staffing plenary and concurrent sessions. All volunteer shifts will be at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center, 1 John Nolan Dr.
Volunteers who sign up for four hours of volunteering for the conference are eligible for a free one-day registration. Please note that ACM only offers the free one-day registration for volunteers from outside the children’s museum field. If you work at a children’s museum, we welcome your volunteer assistance, but you will need to register for the conference if you wish to attend sessions outside of your volunteer shift.
