Reach Out And Read: Make reading fun

Reach Out and Read (ROR) is a national program in over 3,200 pediatric health care sites. Volunteer readers in ROR programs transform clinic waiting rooms into literacy-rich areas for children and parents, and help families learn the joys and the techniques of reading aloud. Volunteers read to children, modeling book-sharing techniques for parents and showing them by example that reading aloud is fun for parent and child. Volunteers come from all walks of life but have two important traits in common: a love of books and stories, and a genuine interest in helping children.

We are looking for energetic and compassionate volunteers who are interested in fostering a love of reading in children at our site in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Requirements : Minimum Age: 18

Minimum Time Commitment: 2-4 hours a week

Times: Monday-Friday 9am-12pm and or 1pm-4pm.
