Dial-A-Ride is part of the City of Woodburn Transit Department. It provides transportation to medical appointments for persons who are elderly or living with disabilites. Rides are provided to appointments in Woodburn and also Salem and Portland and all points between. Hours of operation are 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday. Volunteers drive their own vehicle and are reimbursed mileage at $.575 cents per mile. Volunteers drive only to locations that they are comfortable with, and may decline routes. This volunteer activity is extremely flexible, and performs a vital public service. For an uplifting experience volunteer for Dial-A-Ride!

A nationwide volunteer program, RSVP invites adults 55 and over to use their life experience and skills to benefit and support organizations and non-profits in their community through volunteer service.

Description

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from one to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, senior centers, police departments, libraries and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
