Animal Rescue needs a Volunteer Coordinator!

Primary Goal of the Volunteer Coordinator: Must love animals! We need your help to actively recruit new volunteers, help find new fosters, adopters and dog walkers. This is mainly an administrative volunteer position however; the right person will also need to be able to handle dogs of all sizes and attend adoption and fundraising events.

Duties/Functions:

• Schedule and coordinate volunteers for community and fundraising events, and attend these events as staff support.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate volunteer staff.
• Train staff to work with volunteers in a supervisory capacity to best utilize, facilitate, and train volunteers in a variety of jobs while ensuring their safety.
• Maintain a database of all volunteers and track volunteer hours and all necessary paperwork associated with volunteer programs including time sheets, liability waivers, nametags, etc.
• Prepare and maintain procedural and training manuals for volunteers.
• Conduct regular volunteer update meetings with volunteer leadership, and provide orientations monthly or as needed.
• Coordinate student and community volunteer services program.
• Develop/manage a volunteer appreciation and volunteer recognition program.
• Serve as the key liaison between administration, staff, and volunteers.
• Maintain a warm and friendly relationship with our volunteers, staff and clients AKA The dogs!
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma
• Valid CA driver's license
• Works well with the general public, other staff members and volunteers
• Strong written and vermal communication
• Uses good judgement.
• Work well under pressure
• Computer savvy
• Able to work weekends
