Join our hardworking Meals on Wheels team to heat, pack and prepare meals for delivery to older adults and people with limited mobility in the Saint Paul area as a Hot Meal Packer! After you pack participants’ bags, volunteer drivers get these meals directly into the hands of local recipients. There is also the option to help setup the room for frozen meal packing activities. This independent role requires strong attention to detail and flexibility to help with various tasks during down time. We're seeking volunteers for a weekly shift with Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday option from 8:45-10:30 a.m.

Responsibilities:

  • Warm meals in our oven.
  • Follow detailed packing instructions to ensure outgoing meals match each participant’s dietary needs/preferences.
  • Pack meals in thermal bags according to route.
  • Label bags and reorganize supplies.
  • Other administrative or organizational tasks as time allows during breaks from other responsibilities.

Qualifications:
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to interact with and assist people of varying backgrounds, cultures and identities, including race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, ability, gender, gender expression, religion, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount frequently.
  • Ability to meet the time commitments outlined below.
  • Complete a criminal background check (Wilder covers the cost).
  • Highly respectful of confidentiality.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
Timing and location:
  • Total time requirement: Minimum 3-month commitment to this weekly role.
  • Day of the week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Fridays
  • Time of the day: 8:45-10:30am
