ORGANIZATION: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County

Are you looking for a way to ignite the power and promise of today's youth? Then Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County is just the organization for you!

MentorU Program Overview:

We cultivate connections between a high school student and an adult mentor that seeks to encourage the development of personal, academic and career skills. The program has a structured focus on social-emotional learning, workforce development, career exploration and college readiness.

4 Pillars of MentorU:

Class Sessions- Students attend weekly class sessions led by the MentorU Program Coordinator to learn the weeks curriculum.

Monthly Events- Students and mentors meet in person 9 times to work on honing skills, discussing important topics and building their relationship.

Communication- Mentors and students communicate between in-person events via a secure online platform.

Staff Support- Each match is supported by the Program Coordinator. They work to provide coaching, resources, and guidance.


Time Commitment:

  • Roughly 2.5 hours/month

Requirements:
  • 21 years of age or older
  • Ability to commit to one academic school year
  • Live or work in Dane County
  • Ability to pass a background check

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County empowers children to reach their full potential by creating and supporting strong and enduring one-on-one mentoring relationships throughout Madison and Dane County. We use research-based methods that have been refined and strengthened for over 50 years. Our team of professionals strives to meet the individual needs of every child by providing them with a caring, trusting adult. Through mentorship, we can help Littles where they are now, while also building them up for what's ahead. Through our different program offerings, and with the help of our supporters and volunteers, we're proud to serve Madison and Dane County's youth.
