The mission of RS VP, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, is to provide service opportunities for individuals over 55 years of age by matching their skills, life experiences, and interests to address identified community needs, while offering a high quality experience that will enrich the volunteer's life.

Make a Difference in Your Community!

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people over the age of 55 to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. Individuals contribute their skills and time throughout Wayne County, North Carolina. Time is flexible from just a few hours to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. Personal interests and skills are matched with appropriate opportunities to help solve community problems. Rewards are the smiles of those who are helped. Benefits are supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed. Funding is provided by Senior Corps, a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, Wayne Community College is the sponsor for RSVP and provides space, technical and other In-Kind support.
