Help empower trans/gender queer/ gender exploring/ gender variant/ AMAB/ AFAB youth by facilitating Trans discussion group for Lambert House. During quarantine, trans youth especially are looking for connection. We're looking for experienced facilitators for our Trans youth group that meets for 1.5 hours on Mondays and consists of 2 to 10 youth.
Currently, all programs and events, including Trans Group are online. This will change both the training and volunteer experience. Details available during applicant interviews. Volunteer applicants should be local to the Seattle/King County, WA area, because we plan to switch back to in person programming when it is safe.
Facilitators are considered a special category of volunteer and must have experience and expertise in group facilitation and an ability to work well with youth. Facilitators must successfully complete our application and approx 28 hours training process. Target for our next online volunteer training is February 2021. Lambert House empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth and their allies through the development of leadership, social and life skills.
Description
Lambert House serves LGBTQ youth ages 11-22 in the greater Seattle area with 32 ongoing year-round programs and services including:
- Daily drop in from 4-9:30pm Monday through Friday
- CyberCenter/Computer Lab Monday through Friday
- Home cooked meal Monday through Friday at 6pm
- Weekly discussion groups (Tranz Youth on Mondays, Queer Young Females on Tuesdays, and Boys Who Like Boys on Thursdays)
- 3,000+ volume LGBT lending library
- Art Night & supplies
- Queer Film Night on Friday
- Cultural & Theatrical outings (5th avenue, etc.)
- Monthly outdoor program (hikes & overnight camps)
- Quarterly Seattle-wide youth-planned social events (dances, proms, etc.)
- Leadership development & workshops
- LGBT Pride Celebration
- Informal youth-adult mentorship with volunteers
- Service referral for emergency & transitional housing, medical, counseling, etc.
- Clothing bank & toiletries
