The American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure 2008 Event Committee is looking for event day and pre-event volunteers. Our mission, since Tour de Cure's beginning in 1991, has been:

To prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

Now you and/or your organization can make a difference in the lives of the 20.8 million Americans with diabetes by joining thousands of cyclists and volunteers around the nation who are riding and participating in their local Tour de Cure event. Our event takes place on Saturday, April 18 th, 2008 in North County San Diego (Mira Costa College) and we are actively looking for local community and corporate organizations to volunteer for the event.

The Tour de Cure depends on volunteers like you to help the recruit, organize, and help the event run smoothly! As an integral part of the Tour team, you can provide help in any of the following areas:

· Check-in Area - Welcomes the riders, help check them in and get them out on the route.

· Marketing/ Promotions Interns- Assists with pre-event promotion, espcially focusing on local cycling events and cyling shops. Assists event committee with pre-event planning and day of event logistics.

· Medical - Treats injuries as necessary. We're looking for EMTs, RNs and others with a medical background.

· Rest Stop - Serves refreshments and offer support, and provides medical support to riders when needed.

· Finish line - Cheers riders in after completing their day, serves refreshments and distributes T-shirts.
