ORGANIZATION: Project Hope for the Homeless

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

*THIS OPPORTUNITY REQUIRES YOU TO PURCHASE ITEMS OR SOLICIT DONATIONS*

Pack and donate typical school-like non-perishable lunches for homeless guests of Project Hope for the Homeless, Lake County's only homeless shelter. Packing lunches for Project Hope guests can be a rewarding & fun project for individuals, families & groups. Not all guests daily request a lunch--so feel free to donate an amount that is comfortable for you. Since the daily amount of need varies, a properly packed sack lunch needs to be appropriate for storing to ensure that when the need arises, healthy lunches will be fresh & available.

GREAT FOR:

  • Girl/Boy Scouts
  • Youth clubs
  • Schools/classrooms
  • Churches
  • Civic clubs
  • Professional groups
  • Workplace philanthropy

Collect & Pack items such as:

    • Water bottle
    • Granola & Nutri-Grain bars
    • Individual servings of pudding, applesauce or fruit
    • Individual servings of chips, crackers & snacks
Sandwiches are a nice addition
. However, they will spoil quickly. If you would like to, please bring sandwich fixings separate from the sack lunches. Our volunteers can make the sandwiches when needed.

Fruit will also quickly go bad. If fresh fruit is to be included, please make sure it is one that will not ripen too quickly.

You may include a note of encouragement or kind thoughts. Refrain from including personal information.

To arrange times, dates and collection drives, please call the volunteer coordinator in advance. Your donation saves time and money, and lets the recipient know they are valued.

Thank you!

OUR VISION: To be a solution in helping persons who are homeless to thrive and reach their most abundant life, inspired by the love of Jesus.

Description

Project Hope for the Homeless is the only emergency homeless shelter in Lake County, Ohio. We are located at 25 Freedom Road in Painesville Township and have four programs, which include an overnight shelter for adults, a separate wing for families and children, an optional aftercare program, and our offsite senior care program at our Hope House.

The emergency shelter provides space for up to 50 adults and children each night, not only offering them a safe place to stay, but also giving them the basic needs and professional guidance to help them improve their quality of life. More than 80% of our guests left the shelter for a better living situation.

Every day staff and volunteers ensure the safe and efficiency of the shelter. Come join our mission!
