This position is great for the jack of all trades. On a daily basis we have many projects that hinder the ASC staff from helping families directly. This is your opportunity to help us help families. Even something as simple as making phone calls can free up our fundraising staff to help raise money for specific events which can turn into expanding vital services that we can offer families. The wonder of working with a small non profit is that everything is important, and our volunteers are one of our most important resources.
So what does helping out in the office entail? Well, if we need phone calls to follow up with donors or sponsors, entering information into an excel spreadsheet, typing or compiling documents for staff , and even assisting with larger projects such as organizing files or helping create a presentation board. All of these tasks have been done by office volunteers who can commit to coming in for a few hours on a regular basis.
There are many benefits for you as an office volunteer. First, you get to know and interact with our wonderful staff on a weekly basis. You can also gain professional experience in office management skills. It gives you the freedom to have ownership over long term projects, and finally, it is a great way to build that resume. With the job market being so competitive you have the opportunity to get some references who can speak to your work ethic and skills when you're a volunteer.
