SEWING Memory Bear Makers - Be A Hospice Volunteer

Organization

MISSION HOSPICE
(3 reviews)

Description

Mission Hospice is in need of very caring Sewing Volunteers Who Live in and around the South Bay, LA, San Gabriel Valley & San Fernando Valley areas.

Sewing volunteers are needed to make Memory Bears from the fabric of the patients clothing usaually after the patient has passed away.

Memory bears made from a favorite item such as a shirt and can help bring the loved one who has passed, closer to the hearts of the survivors.

The Memory Bear is requested by and given to the surviving loved ones of our Mission Hospice patients.

The Memory Bear will help them to find comfort in their time of loss.

Volunteer from home in your spare time. Memory Bear Volunteers must have your own sewing machine, thread etc.

Memory Bear volunteers are on-call, you will be called to see if you are available to make a bear at the time it is needed.

When you apply, we ask you to make a "Sample Bear" showing your abilities, the sample bear can be made out of any material you may have.

We have a very simple 2 piece pattern that you are welcome to use. Or use your own pattern. The sample bear that you see in the photo is the creation of one of our volunteers.

I welcome new memory bear ideas! :-)

Sample bears will not be returned.
