The Elkhart County CASA Program volunteers develop a relationship with children who are involved in the court system through no fault of their own. The CASA volunteer will speak for the child's best interests in a system that frequently focuses on other issues. The CASA volunteer will meet with others involved in the child's case, including caseworkers, school personnel, therapists, foster parents, etc. to create and implement a plan that is in the best interest of permanency for the child. The CASA volunteers also present the child's wishes and best interest in the juvenile court setting. The Elkhart County CASA Program strives for a safe, permanent home for each CASA child, as quickly as possible.
