We welcome groups of all ages, families, organizations and individuals to become a part of our mission. We are conveniently located near the University of MN campus and many U of M students have found the convenience, flexible hours and great heartfelt rewards from their time volunteering here. We are a SPECIALTY CARE FACILITY, not your average nursing home. We have award winning music and art therapists and staff who do amazing work with our residents. If you can help by sharing your time, talents and/or gifts, please contact the Good Samaritan Society University Specialty Center Volunteer Coordinator, Chris Kline @612-673-6267. We are planning events and outings for the spring & summer.Sample Opportunities... Many of our residents do not have friends or families in our area. Just visiting with them or reading to them or writing cards or letters for them or polishing nails would be greatly appreciated! If you are musically inclined, we could find opportunities to share your talent. Listed below are some sample volunteer opportunities: Reading to residents who have a hard time reading. Writing letters or cards with residents. Manicures, hand massages, painting nails. Assist in the Computer Lab. Give presentations or demonstrations. Do art or craft projects with our residents. Make copies, assemble admission packets, etc. Bringing residents out to the patio to visit and get fresh air. Assist with internal wheelchair transports such as: hair appts. dental appts., music groups, Chapel, therapy etc. Create tray favors or holiday table centerpieces. Work with resident to decorate their room. Pick up around the property. Accompany residents to outings such as going with residents and staff on our bus to Target or Walmart, or field trips, art galleries, book stores etc. Playing cards, cribage, poker etc. Playing the piano. Choirs are always welcome to sing! Bands are welcome to play!

We have a restorative nursing program, supervised fitness center, education and training for nursing and therapy students, chaplain interns, resident physicians, and creative arts and music therapy interns. Comprehensive behavioral health services include: Psychiatric, psychological, chemical health and social services consultations. Award-winning creative arts and therapeutic recreation departments keep residents involved, enriched and entertained. With In-house hair styling, dental, podiatry, audiology and optometry services we help our residents to look and feel their best.
