About

Help thousands of people receive the money they've earned!

United Way of Palm Beach County is looking for volunteers to prepare and file tax returns for individuals and families who use the free tax service available at a VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Center. We help residents earning less than $59,000 dollars a year avoid paying tax preparation fees and receive the refunds they deserve. As a result, these individuals are able to keep more of their hard earned money to pay their bills and increase their family's savings.

We are currently looking for 200 volunteers to work at 15 VITA Centers, located throughout the county, from Boca Raton to West Palm Beach and west to Belle Glade. VITA volunteers include Certified Public Accountants (CPAs), retirees, housewives, college students and professionals. Volunteers are trained for free by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). This year, volunteers may receive classroom training or learn via the internet.

We are also looking for dedicated Greeters at each of the VITA sites. Greeters welcome taxpayers to the center, provide taxpayers with intake forms, review taxpayers' documents to make sure they have all of the required information as well as qualify for the VITA service. Greeters also manage the flow of taxpayers into the center. Greeters must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
