ORGANIZATION: International House

International House, a community organization promoting international understanding in Charlotte, would like to encourage citizens of our community to enhance their knowledge and experience a foreign culture by becoming a hospitality host. International House is the local host agency for international programs administered by the United States Agency for International Development and the U.S. Department of State. We have the opportunity to bring to Charlotte future leaders from around the world and professionals from the former Soviet Republics for business and cultural exchange programs. A key component of our international exchange programs is represented by the home hosting experience, in which visitors are hosted by American families during their visit to Charlotte. Over the year, we have enjoyed strong support from many Charlotteans who have generously opened their homes to international visitors. What does it mean to be a home host? As a home host, you will be an Ambassador fir the American culture and way of life.. You will be involved in the process of selecting your guest(s), as we provide the biographies of our delegation prior to their arrival, to all potential hosts. We ask you to open your house for 1-2.5 weeks. So there you have it... Would you like to be a host family?

Oh, yes if you have children at home they will likely find the experience fascinating. If you join our pool of home hosts, we will try not to call on you more than once or twice a year, but you can always decline if hosting at that time is not convenient for you.
