If your favorite Trivia category is US History and Civics, we've got a great volunteer opportunity for you! In the last two years peole like you helped 63 immigrants or refugees become US Citizens. That means 63 more people, plus all of their family members, more engaged in their communities and in our democracy. Wouldn't you love to share your knowledge with a few more?
St. James Immigrant Assistance provides a range of services to immigrant and refugee clients. Our clients come to us to become citizens, apply for deferred action, learn English, get more involved in the community, and find resources for other needs.
We currently have an open position for a volunteer with adult, ESL classroom experience to teach a Citizenship Preparation class in SE Seattle, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Instruct a drop-in class on the information needed to pass the citizenship exam.
We provide orientation as well as a curriculum and citizenship preparation materials.
