ORGANIZATION: Zoo Atlanta

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

We’d be thrilled to have your group’s help at this year’s Boo at the Zoo! This event takes place the last two weekends of October - October 18-19 and October 25-26. Volunteers help out by handing out candy at treat booths, as costume characters and greeters, at craft activities and much more! While we can’t guarantee that your volunteers will be able to hand out candy, we can guarantee that they will have a lot of fun and will definitely help make this magical event a great success.

Event Details

  • When: Saturday, October 18 - Sunday, October 19 & Saturday, October 25 - Sunday, October 26
  • Shifts: 8:30 am - 4 pm*, 8:30 am - 1 pm, and 12 pm - 4 pm
    • *Volunteers who sign up to help for the entire day will receive one Zoo Atlanta ticket at the end of their shift.
  • Group Size: 35 volunteers maximum. We may need to divide groups into pairs or groups of four depending on what activity you are assigned to.
    • If your group is larger than 20, we prefer that you volunteer from 8:30 am - 4 pm OR have ½ your group volunteer from 8:30-1 & the other ½ of your group volunteer from 12-4 pm
  • Ages: Adults 18 years of age or above. Children ages 8 years old and above may volunteer with a parent or adult chaperone.
    • If you have a group of youth volunteers (age 8-17), we ask that you provide one chaperone for every four youth volunteers.
  • What to wear: Get into the Halloween spirit and come in costume! Merry not scary costumes are appropriate. Don’t want to come in costume? That is okay - you can wear black shirts or group shirts instead.
  • Weather: This event takes place rain or shine. Volunteers will be out of doors for the majority of their shifts, so please dress according to the weather.
  • Parking: Free in the Cherokee Ave. and Boulevard parking lots. Parking is available on a first come first serve basis, so please give yourself plenty of time to find parking especially if coming to an afternoon shift.
  • Lunch: Be prepared to buy lunch or bring your own lunch.

Please let us know if your group would like volunteer this year as soon as possible since spaces fill up quickly. We’ll need to know the number of volunteers in your group, the shift time you prefer, and the date you’d like to volunteer.

We appreciate all the help we can get to make this a great even possible!
