As a Cross-Cultural Solutions international volunteer, you're making a meaningful contribution, working side-by-side with local people and sharing in the goals of a community that warmly welcomes you. You're experiencing another culture like never before and really getting to know its people. It's an exciting and personally inspiring experience, and you'll develop memories that will be with you forever.

Famous for lush rainforests, beautiful beaches and progressive mentality, Costa Rica is also known throughout the world as a pillar of stability in Latin America. CCS operates one of its volunteer programs in the rural community of Puriscal, located an hour west of the capital city of San Jose. The town boasts magnificent views and great weather, and is just off one of the main roads leading to the Pacific Ocean. It is a small town, not known as a tourist attraction, with very little foreign influence.

In addition to Costa Rica, Cross-Cultural Solutions offers volunteer programs in Brazil, China, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Morocco, Peru, Russia, South Africa, Tanzania, and Thailand. Start dates are year-round and programs run from 1-12 weeks long.

We believe that anyone with a desire to volunteer has something to offer. There are no specific skills required.

Volunteer work in Puriscal, Costa Rica is centered around caring for infants and children, teaching children, teaching English, assisting teachers, sharing their professional skills/experience, caring for the elderly, caring for people with disabilities, and assisting teachers of special education. Your volunteer work is based on your personal skills and interests and matched with the needs identified by the community.
