Elementary schools throughout Chemung County need volunteers to read to children in grades K-3 or to listen as the children read aloud.

This is a high impact program where children obtain the skills needed to advance with their class to the next grade.

Volunteers will be needed for the 2021-2022 school year. This opportunity is dependent on the school district's COVID policy regarding volunteers when the school year begins. If you are interested please contact us and we will keep you updated.

Mission Statement

Make a Difference in Your Community!

Description

Make a Difference in Your Community!

CVAC is a program of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chemung County.

CVAC provides education and opportunities for people of all ages to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. CVAC volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, hospitals, food pantries, and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. Our staff members work with agencies and organizations to offer individuals maximum flexibility and choice.

With CVAC you can either enroll as a Cornell Cooperative Extension volunteer to work directly with our programs, or sign you up as an affiliated volunteer and work with any number of partner agencies. In both cases, we match your interests to those of agencies needing your skills and talents.
