Become a volunteer with Purrfect Pals and help homeless cats at off-site adoption rooms in pet stores throughout Puget Sound. Donate two or three hours of your time once a week to help with cleaning or adopting.

Cat Room Cleaners/Socializers: Clean cages, clean litter boxes, refresh water and food, replace bedding and toys. Enter info in Daily Observation Log. Includes repetitive bending and lifting. Play with, groom and comfort cats. Monitor public visits and answer general questions. Volunteers must feel comfortable interacting with the public and be able to professionally represent Purrfect Pals. Volunteer shifts can be done any time store is open, but preferably morning, afternoon or early evening.

Adoption Counselors: Help find forever homes for our cats. Assist the public with adoption procedures, process adoptions, socialize and interact with the cats, and spot clean as needed. This position requires excellent people skills and is very rewarding. Shifts are two to three hours, once a week. Weeknight or weekend afternoon shifts.

All volunteers are asked to attend a 1-2 hour orientation at the Arlington shelter and receive hands-on training at the North Seattle which can last 1-3 hours depending on the position. The minimum age requirement varies depending the position. A junior volunteer (aged 14 through 17) must volunteer with a parent or guardian, and the guardian must work with the Junior Volunteer at all times. A volunteer must be 18 years old in order to be an adoption counselor.

Mission Statement

Through placement and prevention programs, Purrfect Pals works to end cat homelessness in the Puget Sound region - Because every cat matters.

Description

Purrfect Pals was founded in 1988 by a cat lover, Kathy Centala, who took a look around at her community and saw far too many unwanted cats and kittens whose only options were, in most cases, over-crowded shelters with high euthanasia rates.

Purrfect Pals has developed a robust network of offsite adoption centers and special events. Housed in pet stores, our adoption centers are fully staffed by volunteers who care for the cats and match them up with potential adopters. We currently have eight adoption centers throughout the Puget Sound region. Our cats and kittens are available for adoption in two Petco stores, four Petsmart stores and Denny’s Pet World. Purrfect Pals currently has a team of 600+ active volunteers who help make our offsite adoption program a success.
