and as a young man or woman's Mentor, you can find that potential!

Major problems face the youth of today:

  • Drugs
  • Gang violence
  • Teen Pregnancy
  • Illiteracy and School Dropouts

Fifteen Million young people go to sleep every night without an adult that cares for them.

So What Is It That You Can Do?
Research has shown that common among youth that endure these problems is that they had an adult in their lives who cared enough to Inspire and give them confidence.

...an adult that took care of you? Someone who listened to you and made an effort to show you that you did matter and were important?

Why Mentor?

  • Assist youth in making positive choices,

How does it work?

  • Mentors spend minimum of 8 hours per month together
  • Focus on schoolwork
  • Go to movies
  • Sporting events or museums
  • Simply talk and be a trusted friend

Be A Mentor, Inc. has been positively interacting with at-risk and academically low performing youth since its founding in 1992 and continues to connect youth with dedicated volunteer adults throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. We provide a direct mentoring service to at-risk youth (such as those in foster care; with incarcerated parents; susceptible to gang participation, drug/alcohol abuse or teen parenting; homeless/in transition or academically struggling).

We provide proven and sustainable mentoring programs for agencies by recruiting, training and matching adult volunteers who wish to mentor youth. Description

The Be A Mentor Program pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. Mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations and volunteer their personal time to be a caring friend to a youth. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource. The purpose of the mentoring relationship is to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.
