As a member of the Reading Assist Intervention (RAI) Corps, you will teach reading skills to struggling students on a one-to-one basis, for 45 minutes a day, five days a week, developing in them skills that can last a lifetime.
The RAI Corps serves students inside low-income elementary schools in Delaware. Without the RAI Corps, many of these students would not have access to the one-to-one intervention they need to succeed. Many of the students we work with have dyslexia or other reading disorders. Others are English Language Learners or in special education classes.
You would begin your year of service with five weeks of extensive training alongside fellow Corps members - members who come to us from all across the country - learning our accredited and successful Reading Assist Intervention Program.
Expectations: We seek passionate, capable tutors willing to serve the students half days Monday-Friday during the school year. Tutors must also commit to the 5 week training in August. You do not need teaching experience, but a bachelor’s degree is required to receive certification.
Benefits:
At the end of a successful year, you would receive certification as a Certified Reading Assist Interventionist. Many of our Corps members have gone on to pursue careers in specialized reading intervention and joined RAI’s paid tutor corps.
Location: Wilmington, Delaware is a centrally located on the east coast, about 30 minutes from Philadelphia,
