ORGANIZATION: Kateri Tekakwitha Fund

The Kateri Tekakwitha Fund is seeking a person who has experience writing grant proposals to secure funding for our projects in Guatemala. The Volunteer Grant Writer would work with the Managing Director to research appropriate funders, write letters of intent, and proposals, and submit the proposals to the funders. The Kateri Tekakwitha Fund Managing Director would oversee the work of the Volunteer Grant Writer, but the Volunteer Grant Writer would be expected to have the skills needed to organize and work independently.

Mission Statement

The Kateri Tekakwitha Fund is a small 501 ( c ) (3 ) non-profit based in Pacifica CA. The Fund’s mission is to empower Guatemalan women to break the cycle of poverty by having a positive impact on their lives, families, and communities through collaboration and educational scholarships and support, so that the next generation can reach its full potential.

Description

The Fund works through a Guatemalan staff based in Chimaltenango, Guatemala. It supports two programs: an Educational Program which includes scholarships for nurse's training, and an intern program to provide work experience for young women and a Women’s Development Program which facilitates projects initiated by women’s groups in Chumanzana, Chichicastenango, Quiche and Santa Clara la Laguna, Sololá, Guatemala. Projects to date have included an organic gardening project, a sewing course, and a microcredit program.
