I would like to invite you to participate in an exciting opportunity to teach children about science and engineering.
I am an aerospace engineer and have founded a non-profit organization, Iridescent that brings high-quality, hands-on science courses to underserved children. Since 2006 we have trained more than 2500 engineers and scientists to teach 28,500 underserved children and parents in the US and globally.
Our model is to provide much-needed social capital to underserved communities by bringing in engineers and scientists. We train engineers to develop and conduct these courses. Your impact is tremendous as you prove to children that science is accessible to all.
Benefits to You:
- You can use your skills and training to have powerful, long-term impact on the lives of many underserved children.
- You will be trained in educational psychology, motivation, interest, communication and engaging large groups (mixed age levels).
We need 30 volunteering engineers who would teach elementary school children and their parents and help them conduct experiments and build models. Courses include the Physics of MRI, Animal Locomotion, Renewable Energy, Optics, Science of Sporting Equipment and Physics of Sailing.
If this sounds fun, contact us at info@IridescentLearning.org

Mission Statement
Technovation's mission is to empower girls, especially those from underrepresented communities, to develop problem solving skills, self-efficacy, and financial capacity, critical to them becoming leaders and changemakers in their communities.
Description
Our Technovation Girls program equips young women (ages 8-18) to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. With the support of volunteer mentors and parents, girls work in teams to code mobile apps that address real-world problems.
Girls are ready to change the world. Technovation makes sure they have the tools they need
Over the last 15 years, we’ve trained 150,000 young women to be technology entrepreneurs & innovators, empowering them to solve problems in their communities using technology.
5+ years after participating in Technovation programs, alumnae still credit the program with influencing their interests, career, and professional pursuits.
76% of Technovation alumnae pursue a STEM degree compared to 21% of female undergraduates who received STEM related degrees in 2012.
60% of Technovation alumnae work in STEM-related positions, compared to the national average in 2013.
Volunteer and help girls in your community learn and create solutions to real problems using technology!
