Lion Hospice provides end of life care for terminally ill patients located throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. We are recruiting volunteers who have heard the special calling to provide care and support to these patients, as well as their families, during their final days.
Our volunteers offer emotional support and practical assistance to patients and families, usually in the patient's home or in a nursing facility. Duties can include helping with activities of daily living, sitting with the patient, providing reassurance or companionship for patients and families, and always being an attentive and sympathetic listener. Ways to volunteer include direct patient care and family support, administrative help in our offices, bereavement services and general assistance (errands, yard work, etc.).
Volunteers are an important link to the community as Lion Hospice ambassadors. Telling the story of hospice is a vital part of raising the awareness of its ability to give families choices. Our volunteers are an integral part of a team that works toward offering comfort, dignity and often, simply, the feeling of not being alone.
"To families facing death, Lion's strong team brings strength for today, courage for the journey and peace at the end of a life fully lived".
