Community produce, construct and star in plays.

Community volunteers audition for roles in various plays. Volunteers are also used for construction of stages, backdrops and costumes.

Volunteers are needed to perform as ushers for the various plays produced throughout the year.

Volunteers are also needed to serve as House Manager who instructs the new ushers, takes care of concession supplies, insures that all patrons are aware that the intermission is over and the second act is about to begin, etc.

Volunteers wishing to volunteer usher for evening performances should be at the theatre at 7:15 pm and those wishing to volunteer for the Matinee performance should be at the theatre at 1:15 pm.

Production opportunities are the most exciting volunteer opportunity because there is direct involvement with the art, the people that make the art, and the people that come see the art. This is a great opportunity for people who are interested in working with their bodies and hands, who enjoy collaborating with many different types of personalities, who are looking to add a little adventure in their lives, and are looking for different ways to share this experience we call "life" with others.

Administrative opportunities are particularly beneficial to people who prefer to volunteer during the day, are interested in meeting other business owners in San Angelo, are looking for ways to find out more about San Angelo (economically, historically, personally, etc.), and prefer projects that are ongoing (or less deadline-oriented). The Board of Directors accepts applications or nominations; this opportunity is best for people who are excited about networking on behalf of a mission or cause that is larger than themselves, excited about exercising problem-solving skills, and are interested in being a part of the cultural landscape in a leadership capacity.

Mission Statement

The mission of RSVP:

RSVP has the dual purpose of engaging persons 55+ and older in volunteer service to meet critical community needs and to provide a high quality experience that will enrich the lives of the volunteers.

Description

RSVP was established in 1971 under the ACTION program, and has been operating in San Angelo and Abilene for numerous years under the local sponsorship of the West Texas Rehab Center. Part of the Corporation for National Service (CNS), RSVP exists nationwide, in order to engage the skills and energy of persons 55+ years (you don't need to be retired) to volunteer in the community.

RSVP Volunteers receive a free newsletter packed with local information, and free personal and excess liability and accident insurance. The personal and excess liability coverage is provided during your assigned volunteer duties. Volunteers are also invited to seasonal recognition events and parties. RSVP is free to join and is a great way to connect with the life of the city.

How do we do this? We partner with 120+ non-profit agencies in the locality, by annual agreement, allowing RSVP, as an umbrella organization, to offer a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and experiences to members.
