Visit senior shut-ins.
Is your independence important to you? As a Friendly Visitor you can provide services to help homebound shut-in senior citizens remain in the familiar surroundings of their own homes. Flexible scheduling opportunities that fit your lifestyle. Just an hour or two each week can make a tremendous difference!
Activities to support the homebound shut-in can include reading, reminiscing, sharing a meal, shopping assistance, and being a trusted friend who cares about their well-being. If additional services are needed, the volunteer will request help through RSVP to collaborate with other agencies. Volunteer visits with a shut-in usually last for 2-4 hours once a week.

Senior Corps is a network of national service programs for Americans 55 years and older to help improve lives and fostering civic engagement. Senior Corps volunteers commit their time to address critical community needs including academic tutoring and mentoring, elderly care, disaster relief support, and more.
Description
Gloucester County Senior Corps RSVP started in Gloucester County in 1972. Our sponsor is Rowan College at Gloucester County. Rowan College has been our sponsor since1982 and have provided excellent program oversight, financial guidance and quality control. Our program has 320 volunteer members and 60 agency organizations that receive volunteer help from the Senior Corps program. Our volunteer Opportunities range from literacy volunteers, tutors, visitors, food pantry assistance, Medicare counseling, daycare assistants, educational surrogates, stress buster programs for caregivers just to mention a few.
