Memorable Times Café / Memorable Times Online Volunteer Caption Writer

* Reduce social isolation of persons with dementia and their care partners
* Contribute to building dementia-friendly community
* Support elders in leading healthy, meaningful and dignified lives

Qualifications/skills:
* Ability to listen to conversation and type captions in a quick and accurate manner.
* Interest and comfort level in socializing in a group atmosphere including persons with dementia and individuals with hearing impairments
* General facility with online technology, including ZOOM
* Ability to understand and practice confidentiality regarding program participants
* Dependability
* Ability to accept direction and perform tasks independently

Responsibilities:
* Attend monthly Zoom meetings of Memorable Times Online for hours arranged with Café coordinator
* Type captions to promote enjoyment and inclusion of participants with hearing impairments and others benefiting from such accommodation
* Participate in socializing during the program when not in conflict with attention to caption writing
* Attend planning meetings as appropriate
* Fulfill requirements of school or other entity that the volunteer is accountable to, as applies

Time Commitment:
* Memorable Times Online meets from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the first Wednesday of the month over Zoom. It is preferred that volunteers participate each month if possible, providing caption writing as requested. Volunteers are expected to contact the Café Coordinator in advance if they will not be able to attend as planned.

Supervisor:
* CVCOA’s Family Caregiver Support Director is the coordinator of the Café and primary supervisor of volunteers.
