ORGANIZATION: FGP - Red River Valley

Head Start Program

Center Based Head Start Program in Jamestown and Valley City, North Dakota. Home office is in Jamestown, satelite office is in Valley City under Bonnie Olson.

Volunteers will be assigned to a classroom and work with identified children one-on-one in school readiness activities, such as number, letter and color recognition, social and behavioral skills and personal hygiene. Volunteers will eat with the children in a family type setting and role model correct bahavior at the table.

Terms: Volunteer must be at least 60 years of age, Volunteer must meet income eligibility requirement

Other Information Requested of Volunteers: Protective Service Background Check and TB Test

The purpose of the Foster Grandparent Program is to provide meaningful opportunities for income eligible elderly (over 55) people to render supportive, individual services to children with special needs in health, educaiton, welfare and related settings.

Description

The Red River Valley Foster Grandparent Program has been in operation since 1967. It is run out of Grand Forks, ND and covers the eastern half of North Dakota.
