Head Start Program
Do you enjoy the energy and enthusiasim of a pre-school age child? Would you like to help prepare these children for success when they enter grade school? This site is a a Head Start Program and includes a large percentage of Bosnian refugee children in the process of learning English.
Volunteers will be assigned to a classroom and spend time with identified children one-on-one in a variety of ways. Volunteers may focus on school readiness issues, such as letter, number and color recognition. May spend time on social/behavioral and hygiene skills. May focus with refugee children in the process of learning English. Volunteers eat lunch with the children in a family type setting, modeling appropriate table manners.
Terms: Site is handicapped accessible, Volunteer must meet income eligibility requirement

Mission Statement
The purpose of the Foster Grandparent Program is to provide meaningful opportunities for income eligible elderly (over 55) people to render supportive, individual services to children with special needs in health, educaiton, welfare and related settings.
Description
The Red River Valley Foster Grandparent Program has been in operation since 1967. It is run out of Grand Forks, ND and covers the eastern half of North Dakota.
