Grand Forks & Walsh County Head Start Program
Center Based Head Start program in Grand Forks, ND. Satelite Head Start classrooms within the city of Grand Forks (Ben Franklin Elementary School, Phoenix Elementary School and Wilder Elementary School), in Langdon, ND and in Grafton, ND. Grand Forks also has two classrooms that are daycare classrooms for half of the day and head start classrooms half of the day.
Volunteers are assigned to a classroom and work with identified children one-on-one in school readiness activities, such as number, letter and color recognition, social and behavioral skills and personal hygiene. Volunteers will eat with the children in a family type setting and role model correct behavior at the table.
Terms: Site is handicapped accessible, Volunteer must be at least 60 years of age, Volunteer must meet income eligibility requirement

The purpose of the Foster Grandparent Program is to provide meaningful opportunities for income eligible elderly (over 55) people to render supportive, individual services to children with special needs in health, educaiton, welfare and related settings.
Description
The Red River Valley Foster Grandparent Program has been in operation since 1967. It is run out of Grand Forks, ND and covers the eastern half of North Dakota.
