Wildlife Rescue League (WRL) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Northern Virginia whose mission is to support the rehabilitation of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife and, through education, to foster appreciation of our wild neighbors.

We are looking for volunteers looking for the opportunity to lead to serve as chairpersons/coordinators for several committees that are collectively responsible for the operation of WRL. Each chairperson works with the Board of Directors to establish annual goals, and leads a team of volunteers to achieve them. The committee chairs are working positions, to be performed on a volunteer basis without compensation, and are for a two-year term. The ideal candidate will have an appreciation for wildlife. A description of each committee and associated responsibilities are below:

Education Committee schedules and obtains presenters for public programs to community groups, schools, and other organizations; and schedules and staffs tabling events.

Rehabilitation Committee addresses wildlife rehabilitation issues; creates and runs rehabilitator and apprentice trainings; oversees management and distribution of rehabilitator supply depots and in-kind donations; collects rehabilitator data; liaisons with partner veterinarians, including providing basic training; and develops plan to recruit apprentice rehabilitators.

Helpline Committee trains, schedules, and manages volunteers to staff the helpline, which responds to calls from the public concerning injured, sick, orphaned or nuisance wildlife.

Transporter Committee trains, schedules, and manages volunteers to pick up contained wildlife from veterinarians and animal control officers and transport it to permitted wildlife rehabilitators for care and subsequent release.

Volunteer Coordinator ensures continued recruitment, retention, training and management of all volunteers.
