NEER North is looking for responsible, dependable volunteers to provide morning or evening care at our rescue facility in West Newbury, MA. In this role you will be caring for up to 25 beautiful horses, minis and donkeys looking for their forever homes. This is a wonderful opportunity to get outside, make a difference with an animal in need, and support an organization that receives no state or federal funding. Our morning shift hours are 8:30-11, evening hours are 3:30-5:00. All volunteers are paired with at least one other person per shift. (Please note this position does not include riding the horses).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide food and water for all animals in care
  • Clean stalls and/or pick paddocks
  • Fill hay bags
  • Keep barn clean and tidy for visitors
  • Volunteers are asked to commit to two shifts per week

Qualifications:

  • Horse experience preferred, but not required - we will provide all training necessary for this role
  • Comfortable performing physical activity in an outdoor setting/inclement weather
  • Detail oriented, able to follow directions carefully

  • morning / 08:15 AM to 11:00 AM
  • afternoon / 03:00 PM to 05:30 PM

Mission Statement

NEER North rescues, rehabilitates, and finds approved adoptive homes for equines suffering from abuse, neglect, or at risk for slaughter. NEER North also provides assistance for horses and horse owners in need, along with networking to assist in helping assure horses do not become at risk. NEER North educates the public about responsible horse ownership whenever they can.

Description

NEER North is primarily a volunteer 501c organization dedicated to helping horses and horse owners in need.

NEER North houses up to 15 horses at a time, making sure every horse is evaluated, rehabilitated, and brought up to date on all medical needs before being adopted into appropriate homes.

NEER North relies on donations, fundraising, and public public support to accomplish their goal.

NEER North works primarily in Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire but will help any horse owner in need however thay can, funding allowing.
