Give your gifts of time and patience! Spend a little time with a blind elder client sharing their rich history and culture. Help them read their favorite reading books and periodicals or describe their pictures from a favorite photo album. Clients also need help with sorting mail, driving to medical appointments and with shopping or label reading.

In addition to these vision related tasks, some of our clients just need a friendly visitor to take them outside or to assist with other household activities like putting away groceries or organizing household items. BESB volunteers do not provide house cleaning or personal care. Most clients are within 3-5 miles of home or work! Email today!

Volunteers who do not wish to have direct client contact can assist with the following activities in their own homes.

Home Transcriber - Volunteers retype a pre-selected book, saving it as a Microsoft Word document. When complete, BESB will emboss the pages into Braille. This opportunity has limited availability.
