VITAS is looking for kind and caring people to help terminally ill patients and their families. Friendly visits, simple errands, providing a listening ear and the gift of friendship at a crucial time can make a real difference in another's life. Yours, too! Other VITAS volunteer activities: relief care (sit with a patient while the caregiver takes a break); friendly visits to patients and their families at home or in a nursing home; run errands to the grocery store, drug store, post office; assist with programs and special events.

Volunteers are an integral part of the hospice program allowing VITAS to continue personalizing, enhancing, and expanding services offered to patients and families. Through exemplifying VITAS values, Volunteers serve as patient and family advocates and are pro-active in helping to meet the needs of patients and families. VITAS integrates Volunteers into the hospice program by actively recruiting, training, supporting, and creatively utilizing volunteers to meet patient and family needs. Volunteers and their contributions are respected and valued.
Description
Volunteers are the heart of VITAS Healthcare, providing friendly, non-medical care to hospice patients and their families and offering administrative services in the office to support the work of hospice staff.
